The Pure One Classic is my first DAB radio. I bought it from Amazon to replace my old Sony portable whose rechargeable batteries forever need changing, frustratingly just when I'm listening to something special! I also bought the Pure ChargePAK which fits inside a compartment in the back of the radio. It costs not much more than 2 sets of 4 rechargeable AA batteries and a charger. Fantastically it recharges whenever the radio is connected to the mains even when the radio is turned off so I keep the radio connected to the mains and simply pull out the plug at the back of the radio when I want to use it as a portable in the bathroom or shed etc.
The on/off button is the medium size button bottom right in the photo. The large knob is the volume knob.
To select or set the functions of the radio one simply presses one of the small silver buttons surrounding the large central knob then turn the large central knob clockwise to scroll through the options of that particular button. To select the required option just press the large central knob inwards. - Dead easy!
The reception is good both in DAB and FM and the sound quality is really good especially when the bass and treble are tweaked to taste. The written instructions are good and clear. I enjoy the scrolling text advising of the current programme.
I chose the white colour option which fits in very comfortably in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom - much better than black. It also has a kitchen timer, an alarm function and a socket for playing an MP3 player although I haven't used these yet.
I find myself listening to this radio much, much more than previously (I'm listening to it now in the background while I'm typing this) and without fear of the batteries running out. I really enjoy this radio. It is a November 2008 Which? magazine Best Buy so you can't really go wrong. I recommend it.

I've been living with my cute li'l Pure One for about a week now, and I am seriously in love. From the sensual rubberised casing to the chrome nobs and buttons, this is a design classic in my eyes, and I just can't get enough. I woke up next to it this morning (using the handy alarm function) and smiled before my eyes were even open.....
This whirlwind romance has come about because this is simply a fantastic bit of kit that every kitchen (nay, every room) should have. It is incredibly easy to use, yet has depth and complexity belying its simple exterior, creating a fine balance between ease of use for technophobes and versatility for audiophiles.
And what of that sound? Well, I was amazed that such a smooth, rich tone could come from a small unit like this. You can certainly see why Pure have their reputation as market leaders in DAB radio. It struggles slightly to keep up with bigger, multi-speaker units on some of the rock stations and hiphop tunes, but the performance for this price is still brilliant. It is also very loud, I rarely have need to turn it up beyond level 4, even with the washing machine and dishwasher going full whack!
You can adjust the bass and treble to suit your tastes and listening material. There are 25 presets for DAB and 25 more for FM (like you would ever need that many!). There are three different types of alarm, including a kitchen timer which beeps at you when your dinner is ready! The REVU function allows you to pause, rewind and fast forward through up to 15mins of stored radio, which is fantastic given the price. There is even a line in for your MP3 player, which I have not yet tested but am sure to in the future.
I love this radio and could not consider going without it now. It's my first foray in to DAB, and I'm glad I went with such a respected brand. My friend has a similar sized Sony unit which he paid more for, but which cannot hold a candle to the Pure in terms of features, sound and design.

Wonderfully easy to use, just got it home and plugged it in - the radio woke up, scanned to see what DAB radio stations I can get (50+!) and selected Radio 2 for me. All of the stations are in a list alphabetically so easy for me to switch to BBC 6Music. Low power too, I measured the radio at just 1W when turned off - that's much lower than I was expecting, a real money saver!!!

I was already the proud owner of the original One and loved the stations it could pick up and the sound was amazing. So I went for the new One Classic expecting some improvements and I was completely blown away. I get teh same stations of course, but the new soft finish is gorgeous, plus it's got an iPod input. Somehow the battery life seems to have improved as well, as I've move my PURE chargepack over to the new radio and get's longer per charge.
Now I've passed my old One on to my sister so she's happy too!

I just bought this radio from Amazon and I am more than pleased with it. I had it up and working in less than five minutes,and that's saying a lot for me. In fact if I can do it anyone can as I'm not the best when it comes down to gadgets. -Gadget- may not be the word to describe this radio. I think the word I should have used is-Pure Brilliant-. A few years ago I had a DAB radio by Roberts,and although it wasn't bad,my money is on this one.
The sound and reception also the ease of use is excellent. I will be looking at more products from Pure now,as they have scored top marks with me on this one.
If it's a DAB Radio you want without spending £100 or more. you won't go wrong with this one. 10 Stars**********
