Amphion Impact 500 is a highly flexible and capable subwoofer which fulfils the strictest requirements of music lover, yet leaves nothing to be desired when operating in the home theatre setup. Impacts solid closed enclosure houses a powerfull 12 long-throw nomex driver, which is quick and powerfull, yet resolving. The power reserves and current driving ability of 500 watt D-class amplifier guarantee unstrained performance even at larger-than-life listening levels.
Solid and stable stereo imaging and correct phase behaviour are key requirements of all Amphion products. Filter incorporates Amphions proprietary CSC-technology (Cumulative Stage Coupling), which increases the coherence of the whole system greatly and keeps the phase correct at all times by altering the filtering slope. When the crossover point is set higher the filtering slope steepens gradually when moving towards higher frequencies. Thus the phase changes are linear and the group delay stays minimal. At the rejection band (>150 Hz), the slope steepness is 30dB/octave (5th degree) which keeps subwoofer inaudible and thus improves stereo imaging and selectivity. CSC ensures that subwoofer and main speakers work seamlessly together in all situations. CSC filter can be by-passed by x-over/direct- switch so that Impact can be also connected to the LFE channel of the home theater amplifier.
